Gardening Group

About the group

The Gardening Group meet  on a Monday from 10 o'clock till about one.  We normally stop working during the Winter months. At the moment there are 5 members in the Group. We are a friendly bunch and we are always looking for new members. All you need is a love of gardening a pair of gardening gloves and a trowel and a desire to keep our Village beautiful. Come along and join us.

The hard work, dedication and pride of our Gardening Group is clear. For the second year running Redbourne has won the 'CPRE Best Community Planting Award 2017' for our region and came 2nd in the 'Best Kept Village 2017' award - once again just 1 point behind the winners which this year was Elsham.

Redbourne entered the 'East Midlands RHS in Bloom 2016' competition for the very first time in 2016, and we are very proud to have won 'Silver Gilt' for the village category in our first entry to this competition. It was noted by the judges that this first time entry and award was truly significant as many communities spent years trying to achieve 'Silver Gilt' - commendation for the commitment and hard work by the Gardening Group.

Additional 'Judges Awards' were given to 2 village residents, Mr Pike & Mr Johnson for displays at St Andrews Close corner. Their gardens and displays were outstanding, the awards were an accomplishment to them both and recognise their community spirit.

The 'Redbourne In Bloom Group', worked very hard securing funding from local businesses and residents, for which we are very grateful and allowed Redbourne to enter this competition. This small group spent many hours procuring plants, planting, watering and maintaining the flower beds and boxes in order to attain this prestigious award. Special thanks are expressed to the Huntercombe Centre for all their help, both for their generous donation and importantly help with watering our planters and boxes.

After many years of service to the village, Roy & Mary Muggleton have decided to ‘hang up their trowels’ and retire from the Gardening Group. Their help and support has been immense and they will be sorely missed.

We no longer have our   water bowser, without this equipment the GG  find it almost impossible to water our plants without the help of our villagers. If you can help please contact the clerk or any member of the Parish Council
